Historical School Attendance
We are the first point of contact for the public who wish to prove that they attended a Barnet school at some point in their childhood (as required by Home Office, job applications, etc.).
We hold school census data on individual pupils from 2002, so those requests are the only ones that we can respond to helpfully. Although the Annual School Census records from pre 2001 (collected on paper forms) may still be stored in the Archives, these do not identify individual pupils and may have been destroyed by now.
After thorough identity checks, we provide applicants with an official letter confirming their attendance dates. The letter contains a paragraph which briefly explains what an LA is, as such letters are often provided to countries where there is a different education system and the explanation aims to clarify what the different terms mean.
