Supporting Good Practice
Early years settings within the private, voluntary and independent (PVI) sector across Barnet which are in receipt of Free Entitlement to Early Education (FEE) funding are entitled to support from Barnet's Early Years Settings Support Teams.
Barnet Early Years Standards Team
The Early Years team is a specialised team, that includes Early Years Advisory Teachers and Childminding Quality Support Officers. We offer a wealth of early years’ knowledge and experience to champion best practice for all of our Barnet Early Years providers.
The Early Years Standards team supports all EY settings including childminders working in their own home, private voluntary and independent settings and maintained schools.
The Early Years Standards Team provides guidance, support and training across all early year’s sectors to raise quality and improve educational standards. This includes advice on organising an effective learning environment, developing practitioner knowledge, preparation for Ofsted inspections and safeguarding. This is offered through face to face and virtual training sessions, as well as regulatory support visits.
Through our termly network meetings, managers are given the opportunity for professional dialogue to enhance outcomes for the youngest children in our care and receive information on a regular basis from government and local initiatives.
We work with partners across Barnet including the BELS SEND Team and the Early Years Funding Team to ensure providers are kept up to date with the most recent accurate advice and guidance.

The team offers regular consultation visits as well as INSET and central training on a variety of SEN and inclusion themes.
The Pre-school Inclusion Team work closely with colleagues in the Early Years Standards Team, Pre-school Learning Alliance, Pre-school Teaching Team and the Specialist Provision Team. They are able to offer joint consultation visits in order to support all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
