Smoking tobacco and vaping
Webinars
The Barnet Public Health team will be hosting a series of webinars for schools on Smoking Tobacco and Vaping. The sessions will be facilitated by Specialist Smoking Cessation Practitioner, Nicky Coote. We are aiming to record all the sessions.

The session covered, up-to-date evidence available on smoking and vaping amongst children and young people; a discussion of the local current status and issues around smoking and vaping; Myth-busting and clarification on facts about vaping and its distinction to smoking tobacco; Links between smoking tobacco, vaping and safeguarding.

Relationships, puberty and Sexual health
Engaging parents/carers around health and wellbeing
This training will look at some of the key areas of health and wellbeing and early years settings and schools can involve parents/carers.

The session will identify gaps in provision and create an action plan to imbed best practice in regard to domestic abuse and healthy relationships.

Brook Sexual Health Charity
Brook Sexual Healthy Charity are free and confidential sexual health and wellbeing experts. Brook offers the following sexual health and wellbeing services for young people and professionals across Barnet:
- Relationships and sex education in schools and community settings
- One-to-one early intervention programmes with young people
- Health promotion stalls and events
- Peer education programmes
- Workshops to young people in community settings and free professionals training
- Condom Distribution Scheme: become an outlet/ C card training for professionals

Barnet All About Periods Campaign
The Barnet Council’s All About Periods campaign aims to support children and young people throughout the Borough by normalising periods through awareness raising and addressing period poverty and stigma.
Barnet Public Health and the School Nursing Team are planning a PSHE webinar to assist with delivering high-quality period education and a period-friendly school environment in your setting. Date of webinar to be confimed.

Mental health and emotional resilience
This programme which takes a whole-school approach to promote and build resilience in schools and address mental health concerns early on. Mental health-related training sessions and workshops are offered through the programme.
